Practice!

I am becoming increasingly more absorbed in my own work. It probably consumes about 60% of my thoughts. I am trying to practice, practice, practice. One thing I'll do, since I'm teaching myself, is look up photos taken around Toronto and then try to capture a similar shot. I'm not trying to copy other photographers, I'm trying to test myself. I want to be able to look at a photo and have a good idea as to what settings were used or what equipment is needed.
Here is a fairly common shot you may have seen before. It's a cool effect for capturing motion.

506 Carlton

Things I have yet to shoot: Skyline from the island, night time long exposure from a high altitude, abandoned buildings, these are all basically on my wish list. I really do love Toronto, I'm glad I chose this city to start my career. There are lots of photographers in the city, but so far it's been a welcoming community. Welcoming and helpful.
I think I need to spend more time with photographers, find a meet up group or something. I'll look into it.

Getting Through a Lull

Where on earth have I been? I hate it when I have nothing going on, I get restless and drink too much, and waste days. It's a weird combination of having fun and feeling bad about myself. I guess that's what being in your mid twenties is all about.
Along comes Bilal, a crossfit trainer who wants his photos done. I had to get my shit together. Read manuals, research crossfit, get the feel of my new lens. The shoot was a success in my opinion, and I definitely learned a lot which is the most important thing. I have a lot of work to do (photo editing wise), which I'm never afraid of.

Dead Lift

Thanks to Bilal for getting me back on track, he's actually one of those rare incredible people who just have an infectious positive spirit. Having work to do really gets me pumped up about photography, it's that 'time to shine' kind of feeling. So, I guess now the next step is to find ways to get more jobs. More ads, word of mouth, and just offering up my services to anyone. I have actually found that the more I talk about my passions the more helpful people are, I guess that's what networking is hmmm. . .
